Designit is a strategic design company that works with ambitious brands to create moving products, services, systems, and spaces. To match the companys vision, Artist Phuc Van Dang uses his intuition to create art which moves us with an undeniable flow, balancing on the border of the abstract and concrete. Phuc Van Dang has much experience with working with large-scale murals, here in his signature black and white abstractions.

Designit

The main installation covered the entire end wall of the office at Designit Aarhus.
Phuc Van Dang at work. The artworks were created during normal office hours, allowing the employees to follow the progress over a few days.
Phuc’s unique black line abstractions often include people and nature but allow the spectator to create their own stories and fairytales from his art.
The final installation was celebrated at the office with a reception where Phuc presented his work and shared the thoughts and inspirations behind the artistic process.

Brief.

For this mural, we wanted to create something that suited the building while still making it stand out with character.  For a company whose philosophy is shaped by culturally-informed design, the link between aesthetics and narration matters. The kind of art paving the walls of Designit offices shall hence tie the whole space together in a metaphorical and relatable way. 

Solution.

For this project, we chose to work with the Danish artist Phuc Van Dang. Phuc’s storytelling-infused work, spanning across mediums and cultures, was found to be a perfect match for Designit’s approach to creativity. Phuc managed to balance unity and diversity by creating a range of drawings that resonated with each other across the vast office. Creating a consistent feel through these various theme-bound illustrations, he increased the workplace’s capacity to feed employees’ imagination.
